DELIGHTFUL DOWNTOWN, brought to you by Downtown Halifax Business Commission (DHBC), is a series of vivid light shows and installations that brighten up Downtown Halifax through the dark winter months.
DELIGHTFUL DOWNTOWN includes:
Light projection shows on the former Halifax Memorial Library at Grafton Park.
A 28-foot festive tree and winter-themed lights in Peace and Friendship Park.
Winter-themed window decals and lights scattered throughout Downtown's streets.
Seasonal light pole displays and tree wrap lights all over Downtown Halifax.

Light Projection Shows at Grafton Park
2025-2026 Schedule:
Now playing: 'Everything is Sparkling' - Holiday Light Show, featuring Meaghan Smith’s hit song ‘It Snowed’, as well as The Season's Greetings Light Show (both are playing until December 26 at 11:00 p.m. )
Except for this weekend: December 5 – December 7: The Halifax Explosion Light Show (pays homage to Nova Scotia’s first Black doctor, Dr. Clement Ligoure, and Vince Coleman, train dispatcher.)
December 27 – January 18: The Winter Light Show
December 30 – January 2*: The New Year Light Show
Please note:
Light projection shows with overlapping dates will run back-to-back apart from December 5-7, and December 31.
Start time for all light shows is DUSK, and will gradually get earlier as the days get shorter. All shows end at 11:00 p.m. nightly.
*On New Year's Eve, the show will end at 1:00 a.m.

Lights at Peace and Friendship Park
Enjoy the winter-themed light installations, twinkly tree-wrapped lighting, and our dazzling 28-foot-tall tree at Peace and Friendship Park (the corner of Barrington and South streets.)

Seasonal Light Pole Displays
DELIGHTFUL DOWNTOWN also includes the seasonal light pole displays, featuring the festive holiday wreaths and sparkly winter snowflakes that adorn the street lights in the Downtown area.
Expect to see the wreaths and/or snowflakes on:

George Street
Ferry Boat Lane/Chebucto Landing
Argyle Street
Lower Water Street
The festive holiday wreaths will be up until January 31, 2026, while the winter snowflakes will stay up until the end of March 2026.
